Registered Nurse Cardiovascular Intensive Care Unit (CVICU) | Contract | Salisbury, NC

An opportunity is available for a skilled Registered Nurse with expertise in Cardiovascular Intensive Care to provide high-level patient care in a dynamic CVICU setting. This role is ideal for a nurse with at least two years critical care experience, preferably with cardiac surgery and complex cardiovascular cases.

Key Responsibilities

• Deliver comprehensive nursing care to critically ill cardiovascular patients including post-operative cardiac surgery, STEMI, cardiogenic shock, and cardiac arrest cases.
• Manage complex equipment such as chest tubes, ventilators, invasive arterial lines, PA catheters, transvenous pacemakers, IABP, and Impella devices.
• Administer and monitor vasoactive medications with vigilance to patient response.
• Collaborate closely with an interdisciplinary team including intensivists on-site 24/7 and respiratory therapists.
• Participate in regional floating assignments within healthcare facilities in the surrounding area as needed.
• Adhere to unit-specific protocols for patient ratios (1:2 RN-to-patient), ensuring patient safety and quality outcomes.
  
  

Qualifications & Desired Experience

• Active RN license with certifications in BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS.
• Minimum 2 years critical care experience, ideally in CVICU or similar acute care settings.
• Proficient in use of EMR systems (Epic), Alaris IV pumps, Omnicell medication dispensing, and Philips monitoring equipment.
• Ability and willingness to float to facilities within assigned care region.
• Strong clinical assessment and critical thinking skills.
  
  

Scheduling & Requirements

• 12-hour night shifts primarily from 1900-0700.
• Weekend rotation every other week.
• Expected to work 75% of holidays during the contract.
• No on-call or call-back requirements.
• Paid time for travel if floating mid-shift.
